The Plattsburgh Public Works Department is continuing its fire hydrant water flow program.
During the summer every hydrant in the city will be inspected and allowed to flow water for three to five minutes.Water from household faucets may be stirred up and be cloudy or rust colored when the water main on your street is flushed.Taking a bath or washing clothes should be avoided at this time.
Use caution when driving by a flowing hydrant and be watchful of Fire Department personnel performing the task.
During hydrant flushing, the effort begins at about 9 a.m. and ends by 2 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, until all hydrants have been checked. Each day, the areas to be addressed will be listed on our website and in the Press-Republican.
