A local law amending Charter section C2-11 to require a two-thirds majority for waivers under this section

 

Be it enacted by the Common Council of the City of Plattsburgh as follows: 

 

Charter Section C2-11 is amended as follows: Except where authorized by law, no elected officer shall hold any other elected public office during the term for which the member was elected to the Council. No elected officer shall hold any other City office or employment during the term for which the member was elected to the Council. No former elected officer shall hold any compensated appointive office or employment with the City until one year after the expiration of the term for which the member was elected to the Council, unless granted a waiver by a two-thirds majority of the Common Council. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit the Council from selecting any current or former elected officer to represent the City on the governing board of any regional or other intergovernmental agency.



 

This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon approval by the Common Council and  Mayor and filing with the New York Secretary of State and Department of State.
