(PLATTSBURGH, NY - July 11th, 2022) - The City of Plattsburgh in collaboration with The Plattsburgh Arts Coalition are excited to announce a new event: The Lake City Arts Festival! It will be held in downtown Plattsburgh on Saturday August 27th from 12PM to 6:30PM.
The festival will showcase Plattsburgh’s arts community while providing the public with a chance to experience both local artists and draw inspiration from artists outside our own community. Arts, live music, activities for kids and food trucks - what better recipe for a great family friendly afternoon?!
“For me, the Lake City Arts Fest is this beautiful celebratory event for the arts community here in Plattsburgh. The arts scene has only continued to grow over the past two years, especially with the formation of the Plattsburgh Arts Coalition, and we have this great collaborative energy downtown. An event like this takes a lot of work and I hope this summer inspires others to get involved and support the arts in Plattsburgh.” —Megan Charland, Co-owner of The Link Arts Center and Co-chair of the Plattsburgh Arts Coalition
The festival will take place in downtown Plattsburgh on Margaret Street and the surrounding area. Margaret Street will be closed from Brinkerhoff to Upper Bridge Street and will hold an Artist and Artisan Market. A Kid Zone, facilitated by The Link Arts Center will be found in the Betty Little Arts Park and food trucks will be located on Durkee Street at the bottom of the Arts Park. Join guided downtown mural art tours to get presentations from the artists themselves or head to The Strand to witness Raku firing and pottery wheels. The stage will be set at Margaret street and Brinkerhoff street intersection. Live performances will start at 12PM and include local and regional performances by Austin and the In Laws, Luisa Mei, Sooner than Before, Antwon Levee + Dust and Peso 131 will close out the afternoon. This free community event hopes to provide a platform for artists of varying degrees of skill to share their creativity with the community.
“It’s through collaboration with the local groups and organizations, such as the Plattsburgh Arts Coalition, that enable The City of Plattsburgh to bring events like the Lake City Arts Fest to our residents and the greater North Country. We are excited for this new collaboration and the celebration of arts in our community!” says Courtney Meisenheimer, Community Engagement Coordinator for the City of Plattsburgh.
