(PLATTSBURGH - Monday May 9th 2022) - In partnership with the Saranac Rivertrail Greenway Inc and the Adirondack Cycling Club Bike Ambassadors, the City of Plattsburgh is holding a community bike ride on Friday May 20th in honor of Bike to Work Day and to showcase phase two of the Saranac River Trail.
Riders will meet in the Durkee Street parking lot by the old Farmer’s Market building at 6:00PM to start the ride. Riders can choose a 4 mile out and back route or a 6 mile loop ride. This event is free and open to all ages and levels of riders.
The Saranac Rivertrail Greenway group will be providing information about the Saranac River trail at the start of the ride and Bike Ambassadors will be leading the ride to ensure safety for riders.

Route Description:
Riders will start from the Old Farmers Market Pavillion in the Durkee Street Parking lot and head toward Plattsburgh High School via the Saranac River Trail. Riders will cross Broad street and enter onto the new footbridges along the river.
At Angel Drive, participants can either turn back and complete a four mile out and back ride or continue for another two plus miles. The ride will continue across the Saranac River footbridge to Waterhouse Street. The following section requires sharing low-volume road traffic sections on Elizabeth Street and making our way to the Rt 9 Bikeway.
Once on the Bikeway we head south to Nevada Oval, continuing onto the Terry Gordon Recreation Trail / Empire State Trail, to head north to Jay Street. Riders will continue to Bridge Street and back to the Durkee Street parking lot.
