A Celebration of Winter in the North Country

(PLATTSBURGH- Tuesday, January 10th 2023) - The City of Plattsburgh will be hosting the second annual Tannen-Boom! winter celebration and community bonfire event at the Plattsburgh City Beach on Saturday February 4th, 2023. The event will kick off at 2:30PM and close out at 5:30PM. Building on the success of last year's inaugural event, The City aims to shed light on the many winter recreational opportunities available in our city and in the North Country while also celebrating local food, drinks and music. This event is free and open to the public. An inclement weather date has been set for Saturday February 11th 2023.

The City of Plattsburgh is thankful to Schluter Systems and Lakeshore Pediatric Dentistry for sponsoring this event as well as McDonalds and Eagle Country radio for providing in kind donations for this event.

Building Upon Last Year’s Event

Last year’s event attendees braved sub-zero temperatures, so this year the event will have a larger walled-in tent for attendees to warm up! Inside the tent will be a beer garden (21+) hosted by Oval Craft Brewing, free hot chocolate donated by McDonalds, music provided by Eagle Country Radio and many local winter recreation enthusiasts like North Country Health and Wellness, Point au Roche Nature Center, The Link Arts Center and more!

Of course, there is plenty to do outside! Grab some tasty food at Bunz on the Run food truck. Weather and snow permitting, our Public Works staff have plans to build an epic sledding hill and you can try out the Paint Pendulum hosted by The Link Arts Center in the snow! The City encourages residents to bring their snowshoes, cross country skis or just their snow boots and take a walk along the trails at the City Beach. Stay warm by many of the small fires until the Tannen-BOOM! is lit at dusk.

Safety Information

Plattsburgh Police, Fire and Public Works teams will be on site to monitor the safety and security of this event. The public is advised to abide by safety protocol issued from city personnel and ensure that children are with their parents/guardians at all times.

Parking Information

Event attendees will be directed to park in the Crete Parking lot and use the sidewalk to access the event. Vehicles with handicap parking permits will be permitted to use the Beach Parking lot. Only authorized vehicles will have access to the Beach parking lot and lawn. No parking fees are enforced for this event.

Environmental Information
