(PLATTSBURGH, NY - March 23rd 2022) - On Thursday March 17th the Common Council approved the City of Plattsburgh to officially partner with The Link Arts Center to co-produce First Friday Plattsburgh.
The City of Plattsburgh has been a supporter of the downtown initiative since the Summer of 2021, and will continue to promote and market the event as well as work with downtown businesses who would like to hold special events on city property during First Fridays. With the launch of an official partnership, The City and The Link Arts Center also hope that it encourages more downtown businesses to become members of First Friday Plattsburgh and join in on the fun and festivities every first friday of the month year-round.
“I’m so excited to have the City of Plattsburgh co-producing First Friday Plattsburgh with us. We kicked-off First Friday Plattsburgh May 2021 and since then we’ve grown to having nearly 20 downtown businesses participating. Partnering with the City will only further energize this monthly downtown celebration.” — Megan Charland, Creative Director & CEO, The Link Arts Center.
“When you look at any community of our size, art and artists play a major role in improving quality of life and growing the local economy. Whether it be the number of murals that have gone up over the last several years or the arts events that have happened. We will continue to support the arts in our community,” added Mayor Rosenquest.
April’s First Friday is no joke - even though it’s being held on April 1st - April Fool’s Day! Join participating downtown businesses from 5:00PM-8:00PM for fun events like the opening reception of the Nook Gallery @ The Link at The Link Arts Center, the launch of Medusa Prime (and a deep discount on board games and miniatures) at Medusa Gaming, spring crafts for the family at Adirondack Art House, and a Pop-up Star Party with EphemerADK in Betty Little Arts Park.
