Downtown Trick or Treat welcomes the community back to Downtown Plattsburgh!

On Saturday October 28th, the City of Plattsburgh will be full of spooks, treats and maybe even a few tricks! The fourth annual Downtown Trick or Treat event will be held on Saturday October 28th from 12:00-2:00PM.

City of Plattsburgh launches SmartCode Plattsburgh

The City of Plattsburgh is excited to announce SmartCode Plattsburgh! This spring, SmartCode Plattsburgh initiated a holistic review and update of the City of Plattsburgh’s codes to foster improvements in zoning, subdivision, and related land use regulations. The project is still in its early stages, but is expected to be completed by August 2024.

Construction of Saranac Riverwalk Completed

The Saranac Riverwalk is now open to both pedestrians and cyclists and includes a 10-foot wide multi-use path, two overlooks, improved lighting, and extensive landscaping. Residents and visitors alike can now enjoy views of the Saranac River as well as increased connectivity to the City’s trail network, which will now stretch nearly unbroken from MacDonough Park to George Angell Drive.

City’s Comprehensive Plan Approved and Adopted by Common Council

At the Thursday September 7th Common Council meeting, City Councilors voted to adopt the City’s Comprehensive Plan, a document that sets the City’s vision for an equitable, vibrant, resilient community, steeped in history and culture, with walkable neighborhoods and abundant mix of housing options with an emphasis placed on affordable, safe and accessible housing. The last Comprehensive Plan that was adopted by the Common Council was revised in 1999.

City increases paving projects in 2023

As the summer comes to a close, The City of Plattsburgh’s Public Works Department is still working hard to complete the aggressive road resurfacing schedule for this paving season.  In addition, the City will be adding to the scope of streets slated for repaving, including sections of Cornelia, Broad and Durkee Streets.

City of Plattsburgh Looking to Launch Zero Interest Loan Fund for Downtown Businesses Affected by Margaret Street Reconstruction

The City of Plattsburgh is proposing to make available loans with zero payments for the first year and zero interest for the first two years to qualifying businesses that have been directly impacted by the Margaret Street Reconstruction Project.

15 Couch Street set for Demolition

The City and 55 Elm St. Properties, Inc, the owner of 15 Couch street, have reached a final agreement to demolish the building which faced a catastrophic fire in 2013 and sat to languish since.

September’s First Friday event welcomes back SUNY students!

First Friday Plattsburgh is excited to welcome back SUNY students to Plattsburgh and is throwing a celebration in Trinity Park on Friday September 1st with live music, carnival games, local food and more!
